What are some of the things that people don’t know about
the industry you are in?
Most people don’t understand product strategy. People own
a cell-phone and want an app for their business but they don’t
understand the technicalities that go behind making that app or
even if that app is actually needed to solve a business problem.
Also apps are not a once off cost, it’s an investment and one
cannot go blind folded into the process without a product
and digital strategy..
What makes a Tech company successful?
Maintaining your values and ethics in the industry. Don't
compromise on quality to win the 'price wars' game.
Know what your services are worth. Always have respect
for your client and their needs but guide them in the
best possible direction in a collaborative manner.
Continue learning and evolving, tech is always
changing so stay progressive yet be relevant
for your target audience.
“I am looking forward to
being a role model to other
women and inspiring them
–Lynette Hundermark, founder of Useful and Beautiful
What challenges do you face that are
unique to the industry?
A couple of them. For instance, data costs in
the African market are still quite high so that
needs to be a major factor when creating
solutions that requires a large audience;
limited budgets for digital which means
people want a lot more than they can
actually get for their budget so it ends up
coming down to price comparisons for
a service offering without looking at the
years of experience that team has to offer.
People look at products at price level without
considering the strategic value offering put into it.
Cheap doesn’t always mean good.
What is the business annual turnover?
Depends on the market.
How many people do you employ?
I have a core team who are full time and I employ
the rest on a contractual or project basis.
What does the award Female Role Model in Tech mean
for your business? What do you hope for after winning
I am looking forward to being a role model to other women
and inspiring them to persevere.
